Overview.
This safari has been designed to give travellers the best experiences in Rwanda’s Akagera National Park. Travellers on this safari will immerse themselves in the raw beauty of nature as they get to explore the various landscapes within. The guests will have the opportunity to observe the big 5 animals that are the highlights of the National Park.
Game drives will be conducted to ensure that visitors have closest encounters with the animals, take beautiful photographs and observe the fascinating behaviours of the animals. An exhilarating boat cruise will be conducted on lake Ihema to enhance the chances of viewing animals.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1. Kigali to Akagera National Park. Boat cruise in the afternoon.
Guests will be picked up from the hotel in the morning by a professional tourist guide. Interact with the tourist guide as you undertake the journey to Akagera National Park. This journey will consume about 2 hours and 30 minutes covering a distance of 110 kilometres.
It will take you through the various local towns in Rwanda as you marvel at the beautiful landscapes the country is endowed with.
On arrival in the National Park, you will explore around as you view the animals and bird species in the park until midday. At high noon, you will then transfer to the lodge in the park where you’ll have a delicious lunch served to you.
After lunch, transfer to lake Ihema where you will conduct a boat cruise. The boat cruise will equip you with views of the lush vegetation surrounding the lake and a variety of animals especially the hippopotami, crocodiles, African buffaloes and other animals that come along the shores of the lake to supplement their diets.
The boat cruise will end at sunset when you will travel back to the lodge to relax, have dinner and rest overnight.
Day 2. Game drive and return to Kigali.
Have breakfast at the lodging facility at sunrise. Undertake a morning game drive after breakfast.
The game drive will equip you with opportunities to observe various species of Wildcats encompassing this servals, jackals, lions and leopard. These usually undertake their morning hunts at this time and spend the entire day relaxed. Travellers will therefore have the opportunity to watch them as they embark on their hunts which is such an exciting moment.
Travellers will explore and set their eyes on the big 5 animals that are the highlights of the National Park. The morning game drive will end at around midday where you will travel back to the lodging facility.
A delicious lunch will be served after which you will undertake the journey back to Kigali. The journey will take you around 2 hours and 30 minutes covering 110 kilometres. Arrival in Kigali will be the end of the safari.
