Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Kampala city tour

After breakfast at your hotel or arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you will meet our professional driver-guide. He or she will brief you about this amazing 14 Days Gorillas and Adventure in Uganda. You will then embark on the Kampala city tour. You will visit places that include among others but are not limited to; Kasubi tombs, Gadhafi mosque, Bulange-Mengo (Buganda kingdom palace), Bahai temple, Uganda Museum, and the Uganda Martyrs shrine – Namugongo. Get a chance to learn about the history of Uganda as well as enjoy scenic views of Kampala’s ancient seven hills. You will have lunch at any of the hotels within the city.

In the evening, you will return to your hotel for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After a delicious breakfast, check out of the hotel and meet your driver-guide. You will embark on the journey to Murchison Falls National Park via Kampala-Bombo Road. You will visit the magical Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Experience the beauty of wildlife conservation as you learn the stories of how rhinos were on the verge of extinction before the establishment of the Sanctuary.  You will have a lunch stopover in Masindi town and continue to the park. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge, have dinner, and spend the night over.

Day 3: Morning Game drive and afternoon boat cruise and hike to the top of the falls

After breakfast, you will take on a game drive in the park to discover some of its hidden gems. You will meet the big four animals namely; lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. You will also meet multiple bird species. Return to your lodge for lunch before taking on the afternoon boat cruise. The cruise will introduce you to aquatic species of the park such as the Nile crocodile and hippo. Hike to the top of Murchison Falls; the world’s strongest waterfall. Return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, you will take on the drive to Kibale Forest National Park – the Primate Capital of the world. The road passes through rolling hills, rugged landscapes, and plantations. You will have a lunch stopover and interact with the locals. Upon arrival, check in to your earlier booked lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland walk

After breakfast, you will go to the Visitors’ Centre for a briefing. Later on, you will embark on the spectacular chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Chimpanzee tracking is a bit easier than gorilla trekking but it equally requires a certain degree of physical fitness. Upon encountering the chimps, you are allowed to spend one hour in their presence. Watch them dine, mate, and play. The park is also home to other primates such as monkeys and is a reliable birding destination. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will take a walk in the Bigodi wetland region. Here, you see several bird species as well as interact with the local members of the community. Enjoy traditional dances, local beer, and banana juice. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and evening Nature walk

After breakfast, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – A medley of wonders. This is Uganda’s most popular national park. As you draw close, you will enjoy scenic views of the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for lunch and some relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will take on a guided nature walk. This is designed to give you an insight into the park’s beauty. It is a perfect time for bird lovers as well. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Morning Game drive (Kasenyi) and afternoon boat cruise

 After breakfast, you will go for an extensive morning game drive in the park. You will explore the Kasenyi plains of the park. This area is known for harboring a large number of elephants. Other animals such as warthogs, gazelles, and buffaloes are visible. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This is the water body that connects Lake Edward to Lake George. The channel is home to hippos and crocodiles. It is also a reliable fishing ground for the local members of the community. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Lion tracking (Ishasha sector) and night Game drive

After breakfast, you will go lion tracking in the Ishasha sector. Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the few destinations in the world with tree-climbing lions. It is such a breathtaking experience as you watch a lion hunt down a buffalo. Return to your lodge in the later hours of the day. A picnic lunch in the bush can be organized courtesy of your lodge as you may advise.

At about 7:00 pm, you will take on a night game drive in the park. This is an opportunity for you to spot some of the night hunters of the park. Watch a leopard practicing its hunting skills in the night. Later on, spend the night at your lodge enjoying the sounds of wilderness.

Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi and Coffee tour

After breakfast, start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – the home of mountain gorillas. You will pass by coffee plantations and witness the local process of growing coffee from the time of planting to drinking. Make yourself a cup of African Coffee and surprise your taste buds. Lunch will also be en route. Upon arrival; check in to your earlier booked lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Gorilla trekking and Batwa Community tour

After breakfast, you will go for one of the highlight activities on your 14 Days Gorillas and Adventure in Uganda – Gorilla trekking. It starts with a briefing at the park headquarters followed by following a particular gorilla family. After meeting the gorillas, you will spend one hour in their presence. Ensure to follow the Uganda Gorilla trekking rules and regulations.

In the afternoon, you will take a walk among the Batwa communities neighboring the park. Enjoy their presentations such as dance, drama, food, and local beer. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi tour

This day belongs to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s deepest lake and Africa’s second deepest. You will visit the Bakiga and Batwa communities as well as explore the 29 islands. The most popular island is the Punishment Island also known as Akempene Island. It is known for its history of banishing girls who acquired pregnancy before marriage. Spend the night at your lodge.

Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park via Igongo Cultural Centre

After breakfast, take on the drive to Lake Mburo National Park. You will stop over at Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch. Learn about the traditions of Banyankole – the ancient dwellers of western Uganda. You may as well hike to the Eclipse monument and enjoy scenic views of Mbarara city and the surrounding area. Enter the park via Sanga gate, and check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

After a relaxed breakfast, go for a game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. The park is home to animals such as giraffes, leopards, zebras, gazelles, warthogs, hyenas, and antelopes. Visit Kyigambira Hill and the salt-leak area. Return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will take on the boat cruise. Get a chance to see water birds, crocodiles, and hippos. Multiple animals also converge at the lake to quench their thirst. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Transfer to Kampala – Departure

This is the final day of your 14 Days Gorillas and Adventure in Uganda. Start it with a relaxed breakfast. Embark on the drive back to Kampala. Lunch will be en-route and a stopover at the Uganda equator is a must-do. The driver-guide will drop you at a hotel of your choosing in Kampala or Entebbe International Airport for your outbound flight. This marks the end of your amazing 14 Days Gorillas and Adventure in Uganda.
